Once upon a time in America families and teenagers flocked, during the summer, to drive-in theaters to watch movies from the comfort of their large sedans. More often than not there were two movies showing as a double feature late into the night. The teenagers were not always watching the movies. They were drinking the beer they smuggled in hidden with friends in the trunks of the cars. Other activities were rumored to take place in numerous back seats, but who knows. While there are far fewer drive-in theaters than there were 50 years ago they still exist with intermissions, snack bars, popcorn, hot dogs and soft drinks. The double features seem to be gone, and the large sedans have been replaced by mini vans and SUVs but I'll bet the occasional beer is still being consumed when no one is looking.
